Mr. Raymond M. Shrader, Sr., 87, died on January 17, 2010 at his home in Oxford, Ga. He was born in Pensacola, Fl. in Santa Rosa County on October 21, 1922 to the late William and Florence Nicholas Shrader. He grew up in Atlanta, Ga. and attended high school at Boys High in Atlanta. He served during WWII as a turret gunner on B-24 bombers in Italy during 1944 and 1945. Upon returning to Georgia after the war, he married Virginia May Franklin in 1946. Raymond worked for Larkin Coils, Inc. in Atlanta as a refrigeration research engineer until he retired in 1971.
He is survived by his wife Virginia Franklin Shrader; sons, Raymond Shrader, Jr. (Brenda), Robert Nicholas Shrader (Rosalyn), Richard Wayne Shrader (Melissa); grandchildren, Raymond Shrader III, Katie Shrader Provosty, Tara Culpepper, John Culpepper, Robert Shrader, Jr., Christopher Shrader, Christi McCain O’Neal, Daniel McCain, Jeremy McCain, Katie McCain Sokolik, Richard Shrader, Jr., Jeremy Shrader, Joshua Shrader: great-grandchildren, Gabrielle Provosty, Luke Provosty, Ava Culpepper, Natalie O’Neal, Karagan McCain, Korilynn McCain, and Lily Shrader.
Funeral Services for Mr. Shrader will be held on Monday, January 18, 2010 at 3:00 P.M. at the chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, Covington with interment following in Oxford Historical Cemetery in Oxford. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday, January 18, 2010 from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M.
