Ray Ellis Thacker of Covington, GA passed away Sunday March 25, 2012 at his residence. He was born on June 22, 1925 in Covington, GA to Norman Hill and Ola Mae Harvey Thacker. He retired from Fort Gilliam after 37 ½ years of service and then opened Ray and Son Lawn Mower Repair. He loved his family and enjoyed helping his family and friends.
Mr. Thacker is survived by his wife of 63 years Joyce Cochran Thacker of Covington, GA; son Ronnie and Kathy Thacker of Covington, GA; dauther Linda Ann Spivey of Florida; grandson Chet Thacker of Covington, GA; granddaughters Ronda Brand of Covington, GA, Erica Thacker of Covington GA, Christie Thacker of Covington, GA; great grandchildren Jonathon Jackson, Chelcie Jackson, Ashley Brand, Matthew Brand; several nieces and nephews; special neighbor and friend John Cross.
He is preceded in death by parents Norman Hill Thacker and Ola Mae Thacker, brother Edgar Thacker.
Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday March 28, 2012 in the chapel of Wheeler Funeral Home with Rev. Lawrence Lockett officiating.
