Mr. Ralph Abercrombie Jr. passed away Nov. 8, at Abbey Hospice, in Social Circle, following a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Ruth Abercrombie and his only sister Angie Abercrombie.

He is survived by his loving wife, of 62 years, Rendie "Randi" Fisher Abercrombie of Covington and their son Rick Abercrombie of Smyrna.

Mr. Abercrombie was born Sept. 25, 1926. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1944 where he faithfully served his country in World War II and later in the Korean War. He was discharged from the Army in 1952 as a First Lieutenant. He loved fishing, hunting, playing golf and gardening. He also enjoyed traveling and spending quality time with his family. Mr. Abercrombie was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and retired from Tucker Concrete Company after 23 years of service as a dispatcher.
He was a member and former president of the AARP Covington Chapter #3542 and the Newton County Mental Health Association. He represented Newton County for three years with GRN.

Funeral services for Mr. Abercrombie will be held at 2 p.m. today, Nov. 11, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, with his nephew Rev. Dewey Fisher officiating, and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park.
