Rachel N. Coody of Covington, passed away July 17, 2010, at the age of 79. She was a member of High Point Baptist Church, in Covington, for over 50 years. Mrs. Coody enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking, fishing, camping, and painting with her sisters. She loved to travel with her sisters, and spending time outdoors where she enjoyed nature – especially birds and flowers. Mrs. Coody loved her grandchildren dearly. She was preceded in death by her husband, Newton Fincher Coody Jr., and parents, John Virgil and Gordie Mae (Burch) Norwood. Survivors include her daughters, Kathy Anna Cagle of Oxford; Vickie Lynn Brown of Covington; sons, Bob (Rhonda) Coody, Scott (Tonya) Coody, all of Covington; 12 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sisters, Margaret Henry of Covington, Jimmie Lou (WD) Gibbs, formerly of Porterdale, currently TN; brothers, Jack Norwood, Joe Norwood, Tommy Gene Norwood, all of Porterdale; many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Mrs. Coody will be held Monday, July 19, 2010, 4:00 PM, at High Point Baptist Church, with Pastor Justin Hiens officiating, and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, Sunday, from 3-6 PM.
