Rachel Garner Thomas of Covington, formerly of East Point, passed away April 30, 2014 at the age of 92. She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church in East Point. She had a very sweet spirit and will be remembered as a great caretaker of her family. Mrs. Thomas was preceded in death by her husband, C.E. Thomas; parents, James T. and Popie (Cook) Garner; and son-in-law, Robert Astin.

Survivors include daughters and son-in-law, Joyce and David Taylor of Covington; Jan Astin of McDonough; grandchildren, Heather and Cory Kloth of Winter Haven, FL, Elaine and Richard Dolan of Dacula, Cathe and Mike Fowler, Becky Mays, all of McDonough; great-grandchildren, Stephen and McKenzie Fowler; Elizabeth and Teresa Mays; Shannon, Autumn and Garner Kloth; and Ezra, Boaz, and Judah Dolan; brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Ellen Garner of Cumming.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Thomas will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, May 3, 2014 at First Baptist Church in Covington, with Rev. Cory Kloth officiating, and interment following in Westview Cemetery in Atlanta. The family will receive friends at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 3134 Floyd Street, in Covington, Friday, May 2, from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M.
