Patrick Jerome Smith was born on March 19, 1966, in Mansfield to the Rev. James Smith and Mrs. Lona Smith.

Patrick and the love of his life, Termeka Thomas, were unified together for 27 years. He was employed at ER Snell as a back-roller operator for many years and was a long-life resident of Newton County. 

On Friday, Dec. 1, 2017, Patrick unexpectedly entered eternal life. He was preceded in death by his father, the Rev. James Smith, and a brother, Eugene Smith.

He was a devoted father and dedicated family man. Patrick loved music, telling jokes, having fun and was embraced by everyone who met him. He was a gentle giant known to many as “Ice Cream, Two Scoops You Won’t Melt.”

Patrick is survived by his wife, Termeka Thomas; two loving children, Jamarrion Smith and Tamerrian Thomas; mother, Lona Smith; siblings, Priscilla Smith, Ruby Stephens, Nancy (Issac) Mathews,  Bessie Smith, Cathy (Richard) Hardeman, Kenneth Smith and Timothy Smith; mother-in-law, Sharon Durden; fathers-in-law, Stanley Thomas and Henry Durden; sister-in-law, Chantreka Thomas and Mrs. Felmeschia (Christopher) Davis; special uncle, John Henry Williams; special friends, Lindsey Belcher, David Barber and Boys of Summer and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Services began at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, at Mount Zion AME Church in Mansfield with the Rev. Noah Nyamaropa presiding and the Rev. Willie Smith as the eulogist. Burial followed at Lawnwood Memorial Park in Covington. Pallbearers were David Barber, Antonio Hyman, Tevin Duncan and Poitier Cobb. Honorary pallbearers were the Boys of Summer. Floral bearers were nieces.
