Mrs. Shirley Burgess, 69, of Mineral Bluff, GA formerly of Covington, GA passed away December 5, 2011. She was born in Detroit, Michigan on February 23, 1942 to the late Howard and Aleta Williams Noble. Mrs. Burgess was a retired school teacher retiring from C.J. Hicks Elementary School in Rockdale County. During her career she taught at East Newton Elementary School in Newton County. She enjoyed gardening and working around her home in Mineral Bluff that she and her husband who preceded her in death, Mr. Robert Burgess, built and retired to six years ago. Mrs. Burgess was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She had many friends in the Skyline neighborhood in Covington where she and her husband raised their children and had made many friends in the Mineral Bluff/ Blue Ridge area since moving there.
Mrs. Burgess is survived by her son Robby Burgess of Covington and her Daughter and Son-in-law Melissa and Shawn Bunn of Battleboro, NC. She is also survived by three sisters Judy Taylor of McCormick, SC, Linda Jaax of Port Charlotte, FL and Karen Dickerson of Eastman, GA along with 6 grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and close friends.
Memorial services for Mrs. Burgess will be held at 2 O’clock Friday, December 9, 2011 at the Chapel of J.C. Harwell & Son Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1pm until service time on Friday. J.C.
