Mrs. Robbie Lee Hayes, age 91 of Oxford passed away August 15, 2011 at her residence.  She was born February 29, 1920 in Oxford to the late Collie Lee and Verlyn Mitcham Bostwick.   Mrs. Hayes was a lifelong resident of the Gum Creek Community in northern Newton County, a longtime member of Mount Zion Baptist Church and was formerly employed with the Bibb Manufacturing Company.  She was a devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and friend.  She was preceded in death by her husband Mr. Thomas Elmer Hayes and a daughter Deborah Lee Hammons

Mrs. Hayes is survived by her children; Son, Glenn Hayes of Oxford, Daughters and Son-in-law, Sandra and Dennis Bailey of Conyers and Brenda Howell of Covington.  She is also survived by five grandchildren and four great grandchildren, other family and close friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Hayes will be held at 2 O’clock Wednesday, August 17, 2011 from the Chapel of Harwell Funeral Home with Reverend Tom Harris, Mr. Pete Carter, Miss Shelia Bailey and Mrs. Denise Gaddis officiating.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 16, 2011 from 6:00PM until 9:00PM.  Interment will follow at Covington City Cemetery.  Flowers are accepted or if you wish donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.  J.
