Mrs. Rita Mae Powell Manasco, age 83, of Covington formerly of Many, La., passed away Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014, at Abbey Hospice in Walton County.

Mrs. Manasco was born Nov. 18, 1930, daughter of the late Charlie and Elizabeth Powell. She was a member of the Apostolic Community Church in Covington and was a pastor’s wife for 28 years. Mrs. Manasco enjoyed cooking and vegetable gardening. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and enjoyed serving people and being loving and compassionate toward others. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Lehman C. Manasco; son, Jerry Wayne Sr.; grandson, Ethan Manasco; five brothers; and one sister.

Survivors include daughters and son-in-law, Glynda and Pastor Robert Nash of Covington, and Denise Renae Hitt, also of Covington; grandchildren, Jerry Jr. and Kayla Manasco of Marthaville, La., Jammy and Melissa Manasco of Robeline, La., Amber and David Savell of Many, La., and Nate and Sarah Nash, Johnathan and Tiffany Nash, Tabitha and Blake Seabolt, Dusty Hitt, Joshua and Theresa Hood Hitt and Nick Procell, all of Covington; three great-grandchildren.; three sisters; three brothers; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Jan. 21 at the Apostolic Community Church in Covington with Pastor Robert Nash and Rev. Joseph Hardigree officiating. Interment followed in the Pine Knot Cemetery. Friends visited the family from 6-8 p.m. Jan. 20 at the church.
