Mildred Parrish Patrick, 95, passed away on July 25, 2013 at her current
home in Atlanta, GA. A resident for many years of the Brick Store Community
in Social Circle, GA, she was born in Oakland, MS on September 24, 1917.
After graduating from Mississippi State College for Women in 1934, she went
on to earn a Master's Degree in Library Science from Emory University in
1937. She worked as a librarian at Westminster Schools from 1958 to 1968.
Mildred was a very creative person and was an accomplished poet. A number of
her pieces were published in several national sources.
She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Rabun Neel Patrick, Sr. and
her sister, Dorothy Shepard. She is survived by her sons Rabun Neel
Patrick, Jr. and his wife, Virginia, of Hampstead, NC, John Herron Patrick
and his wife, Margaret, of Clayton, GA, and daughter Lynn Patrick Cobb of
Atlanta. Grandchildren are Steve Patrick of Severna Park, MD, Susie O' Dell
of League City, TX, Jeff Cobb and Dillon Cobb of Atlanta, Bray Patrick Lake
of Erie, CO, and Alyson Durke of Atlanta, and twelve great grandchildren.
Mildred was active for many years at Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church the Brick
Store Community, serving as Sunday School teacher, Altar Guild and general
historian. A memorial service will be held at Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church
on August 10th at 11:00 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Mt.Pleasant
