 Today we pause to pay tribute to our beloved Mrs. Leona Barnes Freeman; born September 1, 1930 in Jasper County, Georgia to the late Mr. & Mrs. Milton (Ennier) Barnes. She was the second of six children. 

       She was a devoted servant at Bethlehem Baptist Church in the E. L. Mitchell Gospel and Senior Choirs and attended faithfully until her health began to fail. She attended Newton County Public School and was employed with Hercules Inc. for many years upon retiring.

*She is preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Johnny Marvin Freeman, two sons; Mr. Herbert Calvin Dennis, Jr. and Mr. Jimmy Leon Freeman, brothers; Mr. Felton Barnes, Sr. and Mr. George Perry Barnes.

       She leaves to cherish her memories, five children; Ms. Charlotte Barnes, Mr. & Mrs. Michael (Barbara) Turner, Mr. & Mrs. Johnny (Gwendolyn) Hightower, Sr., Mr. Johnny Freeman, Jr. and Mr. & Mrs. Danny (Kafi) Freeman, sisters; Mrs. Minnie Kate Wright and Mrs. Irene Ross, brother, Mr. Steve Barnes, eleven grandchildren; Mr. Michael Q. Turner, Ms. Alicia Turner, Ms. LaQuita Barnes, Jimmile Freeman, Damarea Freeman, Dakota Freeman, Dash Freeman, Mr. & Mrs. Johnny (Samara) Hightower, Jr., Mr. & Mrs. Milton (Natasha) Hightower, Mr. & Mrs. Cedric (Lashondra) Hightower and Mr. & Mrs. Antonio (Mia) Walker, six great grandchildren; Milton Hightower, Nathaniel Hightower, Kameron Phuong, Lamya Walker, Sharaven Walker and Jalen Fuller and a host of  cousins, other relatives and friends.
