When the first season of Harriette Pitner Key’s active life was completed on July 10, 2014, she ran expectantly into the open arms of Jesus. Harriette will be greatly missed on earth, as she has been greatly loved for all 72 years of her life. It is easy to think of her having fun in heaven. Her spontaneous laughter, her ability and willingness to get the job done, and her genuine interest and investment in others made those who knew her feel comfortable and glad to be a part of her temporal life and to look forward to one day joining her in the Fathers forever life. Harriette was the daughter of the late John and Opal Pitner and the wife of the late Robert F. Key. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Gregory and Mary Anne Key of Elizabethton, Tennessee; and son and daughter-in-law Robert and Kellie Key of Loganville, Georgia; grandchildren, Sarah, Jacob, and Nicolas Key, brother John Pitner of Fairmont, Georgia; sisters and brothers-in-law, Norris and Carol Key of Covington Georgia; Rob and Arline McClure of Social Circle Georgia, Wayne and Marsha Boyd of Loganville, Georgia; and Millard and Sandy Jackson of Social Circle, Georgia and many nieces and nephews. Harriette was employed by the State of Georgia for 30 years. In 1996 she retired from Department of Labor in Newton County. Harriette was very interested in helping people and using her talents especially in hospitality and sewing, to bless her family, friends and anyone in need.

Harriette loved the Lord Jesus Christ. She was an active member of her church in Covington, Georgia and during retirement years at Westside Christian Church in Elizabethton, Tennessee where her son, Dr. Greg Key, is senior pastor. Visitation will be held in Elizabethton, Tennessee. A memorial service will be held at Covington Christian Church on Thursday at 11.
