Mrs. Gladys F. Piper, 89, of Covington died August 2, 2009. She was born July 8, 1920 in Newton County, Georgia to the late Sim and Georgie Kitchens Fincher. A lifelong resident of Newton County and member of Red Oak United Methodist Church, Mrs. Piper worked in her earlier years at Bibb Manufacturing in Porterdale and at Pepperton Manufacturing in Jackson and then retired from McGregory Sporting Goods in Covington and continued to work for a number of years at the FFA Camp in Newton County. Her husband Howard Edward Piper preceded her in death.

Mrs. Piper is survived by her Daughters and Son-in-law Melba and Johnny Potts of Covington, Brenda Price Covington and her Son and Daughter-in-law Billy and Linda Piper of Mansfield. She is also survived by her three Brothers; J.W. Fincher of Jackson, Wilbur Fincher of Conyers and Carol Fincher of Covington along with 8 Grandchildren, 17 Great Grandchildren, 1 Great-Great Grandchild, numerous Nieces, Nephews, other family and close friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Piper will be held at 11:00AM, Tuesday from the Chapel of Harwell-Wheeler Funeral Home with Reverend Miguel Valez, officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday August 3, 2009 from 6:00PM until 8:00PM. Those desiring may make contributions to the American Cancer Society in her honor.
