Mrs. Gertrude Watts Holton, 66, of Covington passed away Aug. 3, 2013, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Athens. Mrs. Holton was born in Cairo, Ga., to the late Clarence E. and Devery Johnson Watts. She was a loving mother and grandmother who loved to fish and to hike. She was a very devoted and dedicated member of Solid Rock Baptist Church in Covington.

Mrs. Holton was predeceased by her husband, Harvey Holton, and is survived by her sons, Robert Holton of Pennsylvania and Timothy Holton of Covington; a brother, Ronald Watts of Tifton, Ga., and three grandchildren.

Services for Mrs. Holton will be held at 11 a.m. Aug. 6 at Solid Rock Baptist Church, with Pastor Mike Franklin officiating. Interment will follow at Lawnwood Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 5 at Wheeler Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Solid Rock Baptist Church General Fund.
