Mrs. Arlene Bishop, age 73, of Mansfield formerly of Redan passed away at her home Friday, August 29, 2014. She was born August 28, 1941 in Austell Georgia to Arlo and Mary Pike who have preceded her in death. Mrs. Bishop worked for and retired from The Rockdale Citizen Newspaper. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Mrs. Bishop taught Sunday school at Redan Baptist Church, East Newton Baptist Church and was currently a member of Mansfield Baptist Church. She enjoyed traveling, working in her flower garden and was a gracious hostess who loved to entertain.
Mrs. Bishop is survived by her husband Vernon M. “Pete” Bishop, Sr. her children Vernon M. Bishop, Jr. of Nashville, TN, Jacqueline Unger of Covington and Robin Bishop of Snellville, her grandchildren Jeffery Unger, Justin Unger, Jerry Wingo, Mary Wingo and Vanessa Wingo, her five great grandchildren, her sister LaVerne Clement of Mansfield and numerous nieces, nephews, other family and close friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Bishop will be held 3:00pm, Sunday, August 31, 2014 at Mansfield Baptist Church with Dr. Jeff Perkins and Dr. Edward Salter officiating. The family will receive friends at the church both prior to following the service.
