Obituary
Mrs. Annie Laura Carter Johnson was born in Newton County, Georgia to the late Mr. Charlie Shorn and Mrs. Lizzie Kate Carter. She attended school in the Newton County School System. She is a 1955 graduate of Washington Street High School.
Laura Johnson retired as a school bus monitor with the Newton County Schools. She worked tirelessly as an assembly lead worker at Lithonia Lighting where she worked diligently and faithfully for over 30 years, where she served in many capacities, even proudly IBEW Union Steward, prior to retiring.
As a past time passion, improving the environmental health of her home, landscape and community, gardening brought much joy to Laura Johnson. With an award-winning lawn, Laura Johnson took pride in attending her flowers and the many gardens adorning her yard. She enjoyed everything green; Exotic plants, being her favorite.
Laura Johnson accepted Christ early in life and was baptized at Grace Church, today known as Grace United Methodist Church. As an active member of the body of Christ, she has served in many ministries, until her health begun to fail; just to name a few, The Sanctuary Choir, Usher Board, Young at Heart and many more.
