Alexander Funeral Home of Cleveland announces the death of Tommy Bruce Preston, age 57, native of Henry County Georgia and graduate of Henry County High School. Tommy passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2015.
A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, October 25, 2015 at 3 p.m. at Highlands United Methodist Church, in Gainesville, Georgia with the Rev. Charlie Green and the Rev. David Bost officiating. Visitation will be held in the church sanctuary beginning at 2 p.m.
Tommy was born in Covington, on May 11, 1958, to the late Ernest L. Preston, Jr and Tommie Jeanette Jackson Preston.
He had lived on Tybee Island before moving to White County some 20 years ago. He was employed with Pepsi for a number of years and later with the White County School System as a bus driver. At the time of his death, Tommy was employed with the Lumpkin County School System as facilities manager. Music was a passion for Tommy and, but his true calling was serving God in the ministry. He attended Candler School of Theology at Emory University and served in the United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Sheila Murrell Preston of Cleveland; and son, Jonathan Preston, also of Cleveland, as well as a number of other relatives, many who reside in Henry County.
