Terry McWaters of Snellville, died Aug. 7, 2014, at the age of 59. He was a 1974 graduate of Newton High, where he played football and was quarterback his junior and senior year. Terry was an insurance agent for 30+ years, most recently having worked for Country Financial, but several other companies previously. He enjoyed playing golf and tennis, vacationing with his family to the beach and the mountains, and even enjoyed a cigar from time to time! Terry was a devoted father, and served as his daughters’ basketball coach for years. He was a loving husband, son, father, grandfather and brother. Terry never met a stranger, and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles McWaters; and his mother-in-law, Nancy J. Clark.

Survivors include his loving wife of 38 years, Patty McWaters; daughters and son-in-law, Charity McWaters of Snellville, Cristin and Billy Myers of Loganville; grandson, William Charles “Will” Myers; parents, Mary Alice and Byron Williams of Oxford; sister and brother-in-law, Martha and Sammy Williams of Oxford; brother, Robert T. “Tommy” McWaters of Atlanta; sisters-in-law, Tracey Clark, Susan Clark, both of Covington; step-brothers and their spouses, Rodney and Toni Williams of Covington, Anthony “Tony” and Phyllis Williams of Snellville; father-in-law, Frank “Willie” Clark of Covington; as well as several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

A Memorial Service for Terry was held Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014, 3 p.m., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Danny Knight and Johnny Nichols officiating. A private family interment followed in Oxford Historical Cemetery. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1684 Barnett Shoals Road, Athens, GA 30605; or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memorial Honor Program, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
