Mr. Riley (R.A.) Maddox, age 82, of Oxford passed away peacefully in his home October 15, 2015.  He was born January 8, 1933 to the late Edith and Dallas Maddox.  Mr. Maddox was a special man who loved his family dearly, especially his girls.  He was a dedicated fan of the GA Bulldogs and was a 48 year season ticket holder.  Mr. Maddox served as a corporal in the United States Army Signal Corps during the Korean War.  He later retired from AT&T after 31 years and was a proud member of Telephone Pioneers of America.  Mr. Maddox was preceded in death by his brother, D.L. Maddox, sister, Lorine Plunkett and her husband William Plunkett, and his sister, Betty Harris.  He  is survived by his wife, Carolyn Holifield Maddox, his daughter Melanie Maddox Durpo, son-in-law, Chip Durpo, his very special granddaughter Kelly Durpo, and his sweet dog Mitzi. Mr. Maddox is also survived by his sister-in-law, Geneva Maddox and many special nieces, nephews, as well as great nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 4 o’clock Sunday, October 25, 2015 at the Chapel of J.C. Harwell and Son with Reverend Dickey Johnson officiating.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 until the service hour.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Porterdale Baptist Church P.O.
