John W. (Johnny) Dunevent of Porterdale, passed away June 30, 2014, at the age of 87. Seaman Second Class Dunevent proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of Porterdale Baptist Church where he faithfully attended Sunday School weekly. In addition, he was a member of the American Legion Post #32, in Covington. Mr. Dunevent owned and operated Dunevent’s TV Service for more than 20 years. He enjoyed fishing and camping with his wife, and he was always willing to help anyone he could. He was loved, and will be missed by his family and friends. Mr. Dunevent was preceded in death by his loving wife, Clara (Mask) Dunevent; parents, Lottie and Estelle (Taylor) Dunevent; and his sisters, Elizabeth Bell and Norma Lee Hawkins.

Survivors include his children, Gloria and Joe Jordan of Porterdale, Kathy and Gary Bradford, Terry Dunevent, all of Covington, John Dunevent of Porterdale; grandchildren, Kimberly Brewer, Jodie Volkart, Lamar Bradford, Delaine Cason; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Minnie Belle Wheeler of Conyers, Barbara Long of Porterdale; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. Dunevent will be held Wednesday, July 2, 2014, 2 p.m., at Porterdale Baptist Church, with Rev. Dickie Johnson officiating, and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. Mr. Dunevent will lie in state, at the church Wednesday, from 1:30 – 2 p.m.
