Mr. Grady Cargile, Jr., age 82, a longtime resident of Covington passed away January 29, 2014 at Abbey Hospice. He was born in the Eudora/ Prospect Community of Jasper County on January 4, 1932 to the late Grady and Ethel Digby Cargile. Mr. Cargile was a veteran of the United States Army serving as a paratrooper during the Korean War. He was retired from General Motors and retired as the head of Quality Control over the Doraville Plant. Mr. Cargile enjoyed woodworking and hunting, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend.
Mr. Cargile is survived by his wife Geraldine Cargile, his son Monty “Zack” Cargile of Covington, his sisters and brother-in-law Pat Farris of Atlanta and Linda and Bobby Watkins of Jackson. He is also survived by his grandsons Daniel Cargile and Alicia of Covington and Trevor Cargile also of Covington and his great grandchildren Harley, Ian, Aiden and Ashlyn.
Funeral services for Mr. Cargile will be held at 2 o’clock Saturday, February 1, 2014 at the Chapel of J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home with Dr. Ronnie Barnes officiating. Entombment will follow at New Covington Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00pm until 2:00pm prior to the service. J.C.
