Mr. David Reid, Jr. was born to the late Mr. David Reid, Sr. and the late Mrs. Maude Lee (Walker) Reid on Dec. 24, 1946 in Covington. He attended Newton County Schools. Growing up as a child he attended White Chapel Church. Later, he met and married Susie Ann Bell (Williams) and with this union, one son, was born, Mr. David O’Neal Bell.

David was employed by Porterdale Mill in his younger years. He later moved to Atlanta, where he was a longtime employee of Georgia Duct, for more than 30 years until his retirement. He then owned and operated his Lawn Care Services, amongst many neighbors and friends in the metro Atlanta Area until his untimely death.

David enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, he was known to be a sharp dresser whenever he went out, he had his “A” game on as he would say “and stuff like that.” He was loved dearly by his family and was one of the “Favorite Uncles" to his nieces and nephews because he often kept them laughing, it was never a dull moment when “Uncle Pugie,” as they called him, was around. And to friends as “Punch.” If you wanted to know anything about the Marta Rail or Transportation, we called him, and he was always available to offer his undivided time to us, whether just listening or giving sound advice but always ending in laughter, he loved the City of Atlanta and rarely missed any function that was going on. He was an avid attendee of the Peach Drop every New Years Night and made his calls to all his family at the twelve O’clock hour.

He is preceded in death by his parents, David (Maude) Reid; one brother, Arthur Will Reid and one sister, Annie Maude Reid

He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving son, Mr. David O'Neal Bell; bonus son, Mr. Johnny (Jill) Barr; seven grandchildren, Mr. Marquis (Cecily) Gilstrap, Mr. Kevil White, Mr. DaVontae Keeley, Mr. Jonterrius Barr, Jayden and Josh; one granddaughter, Ms. India White; three great-grandchildren, Marlaysia Gilstrap, Marquis Gilstrap, Jr. and Markuis Gilstrap; two sisters, Mr. William, (Evelyn) Scott, Jr., Ms. Georgia Reid; three brothers, Mr. Willie Reid, Mr. Henry Reid and Mr. Eric (Mary) Cole; a dear best friend, Mr. Joe Bell, a devoted friend, Ms. Louise McCalevb; special nephew (Partner in Crime), Mr. Willie James (Victoria) Reid, “Redd” as he called him and his (Feisty nurse) his niece, Mrs. Felicia (Johnny) Robinson, a host of nieces and nephews that will greatly miss him, because, he played a father role in all of our lives at some point.

A funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10 at Faith of Jesus Ministries, 100 Usher Road, Covington, GA 30016, with the Rev. Lamar Bell and the Rev. Theodis Bell officiating.

The Family of the late Mr. David Reid, Jr. wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to loved ones and friends who found so many tender ways to express friendship, concern and sympathy during the departure of their loved one. May God bless each one of you.
