Mr. Dan Jones, 77, a lifelong resident of Covington, passed away Nov. 16, 2018.  He was born Jan. 4, 1941 in Covington to Willie and Mattie Aiken Jones, who have preceded him in death.  Mr. Jones was an avid reader.  He enjoyed crossword puzzles, keeping up with current events, and history.  He was a Georgia Tech and Dallas Cowboys fan.  Mr. Jones was a longtime member of Red Oak United Methodist Church.  He retired from Snapping Shoals EMC after 38 years.  Among the many things he enjoyed, was eating out and visiting with the waitresses at both Stalvey’s and El Charro.  Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his wife Pat Jones in 2014.

He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Stephanie and Brian Starie of Cumming and Jessica and Kent Norsworthy of Dawsonville his grandson Knox Norsworthy, and a host of nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews, other family and close friends.

Memorial services for Mr. Jones was held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20 at the Chapel of J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home. The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 19 at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local Salvation Army or online at give.salvationarmyusa.org.  J.C.
