Billy Joe Queen, Sr., age 71, of Covington, passed away June 8, 2014. While he was physically able, Mr. Queen enjoyed going to church. He loved being outdoors, gardening and doing yardwork. He will be remembered as a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather. Queen was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Howard and Lula (Henry) Queen.
Survivors include his wife, Janice S. Queen of Covington; daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Ricky Beasley of Newborn; sons and daughters-in-law, Billy Queen, Jr., of Covington, Tommy W., Sr. and Sonja Queen of Mansfield, Michael and Brandy Queen of Griffin; step-daughter, Stacy Hooten of Covington; step-sons, Ronnie Hooten and wife, Yolanda, of Fayetteville, Reggie Hooten and wife, Starr, of Covington; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mattie Lindsey of Douglasville, Dale Franks of Rome; brothers and sisters-in-law, Harold Queen of Rome, Lloyd and Laura Queen, Jack and Candace Queen, all of Conyers, Treasey McDaniel of Covington; as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
A Memorial Service for Mr. Queen will be held Thursday, June 12, 2014, 3:00 P.M., at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 3134 Floyd Street, in Covington, with Pastor Joe Harmon officiating. Inurnment will follow in Memory Chapel Mausoleum at Lawnwood Memorial Park.
