Mr. Billy E. Hester, 84 of Covington passed away January 19, 2011 at Abbey Hospice in Social Circle. Billy was born in Walton County to the late Junie and Louise Malcolm Hester. He owned and operated several businesses in Covington including Hester’s Pool Room and Hester’s Package Store. He loved fishing and baseball, especially the Atlanta Braves. He was also a member of First Presbyterian Church of Covington and a United States Army Veteran. Billy is predeceased by his children Rodney Hester, Marlene Hester and Billy Hester, Jr., his brothers Harry Hester, Jimmy Hester and Sammy Hester and his sister June Hester. His is survived by his wife Helen Hester of Covington, grandchildren Kevin James Hester, Kurt Jordan Hester, both of Covington and Holly Elizabeth Goolsby of Loganville and great granddaughter Makenna Rose Goolsby. A graveside service will be held on Monday January 24, 2011 at 3:00 PM at Lawnwood Memorial Park with Dr. William B. Wade officiating. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Covington, 1169 Clark Street, Covington, Ga. 30014. Harwell-Wheeler Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
