      Obituary
Mother Rubye O. Johnson Benton

     Mother Rubye O. Johnson Benton was born in Covington, Georgia on November 13, 1933 to the parents (preceded in death) of Mr. Ulysses ("Dry Bones") and Edna Johnson.  She was raised in a God-fearing and loving family.

     Mother Rubye received her high school diploma from Washington Street High School, Covington, GA. She furthered her education in nursing in Rome, GA; Beautician School  in Atlanta, GA and the Kennedy King College in Chicago, Il.

     Mother Rubye enjoyed her family, having fun and diversity in life.  She worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Licensed Beautician, and was the first woman Machine Apprentice at a Paper Company in Atlanta, GA. 

     Mother Rubye was married to the late Henry (Jay) Benton from 1957 - 1961. She was a member of the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church and served on the Mother Board.

     She leaves to cherish her memory and is survived by her children, Mrs. Cheryle Johnson Greenaugh (Kevin), Ms. Dalfenia Shamett Benton formerly Moore (T,D,L and TBD), Mr. Jarrod (Marcey Tess) Benton; Grand-children - Cianti Greenaugh Williams (Eric), Giavanti Greenaugh, Jori Benton, Shadera Moore, Jiya Benton, Jade Benton, and Trevon Benton (preceded in death); Sister and Brothers - Mrs. Huston Dyer (Rev. Herman), Mr. Herman (Linda) Johnson, Mr. Garfield Johnson, Mr. Johnny (Angela) Johnson, and Mrs. Bernice Walker (preceded in death); Mrs. Ruenelle Digby (Aunt); nieces; nephews; cousins; and friends.

      Special thanks and appreciation to her care givers for their love, kindness, and patience over the years.  Ms. Erica Daniel  and Ms. Selena Johnson for previous years support; and Ms. Kathy Thomas (John and family) for more recent support until death.  Also special acknowledgement to Mother Benton's "play" grandchildren - Macius, Maseco, and Miciah Thornton.
