Mary Kelly Aycox passed away October 17, 2011, at her residence in Social Circle.  She was 84 years old at the time of her death. Mrs. Aycox’s love of baseball came from watching her father and brothers play baseball, and even saw them play in Porterdale. Her love for baseball transferred to the Atlanta Crackers and then the Atlanta Braves.  She loved cross-stitching, reading autobiographies and biographies, and hearing stories about her great-grandchildrens’ activities.  She enjoyed daily phone conversations with her family and friends.  Mrs. Aycox was a member of Mt. Carmel Christian Church in Decatur but attended Covington Christian Church and Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church after moving to Social Circle.  She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

 

Mrs. Aycox is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Don Herron of Covington, Linda and Reggie McFarland, Vicki and Keith Huxhold, all of Social Circle; son and daughter-in-law, Barry and Kathy Aycox of Loganville; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Adamson of Stone Mountain; brother and sisters-in-law, Ed and Jean Kelly of Stockbridge, Edna Kelly of Lilburn, Hellen Kelly of Ellenwood, Avanell Aycox of Bethlehem; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral Services for Mrs. Aycox will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at the Access Road Chapel of Caldwell and Cowan with Randy Digby officiating, and interment following in Hillandale Memorial Park in Lithonia.  Flowers are accepted or memorial donations may be made to Christian City, 7345 Red Oak Road, Union City, GA  30281 (christiancity.org).
