Mr. Marvin D. McGiboney Sr., 91 of Covington died December 19, 2009 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.  Mr. McGiboney was born in Newton County in 1918 to the late Charlie and Lumbia Whiddon McGiboney.  He proudly served his country in the United States Navy for 20 years and served during W.W. II. He also was an active member of the VFW. He worked as a machinist for Lithonia Lighting Company for 23 years and is a member of Oxford Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Surviving are his wife of 24 years, Mildred McGiboney, his son Marvin D. McGiboney, Jr. of Pulaski, Ga., stepson and stepdaughter in law Ronald and Susan Brown of Plant City, Fl.; stepdaughter Gayle Ginn of Covington; step grandchildren Ginger Davis of Buford, Ga., Ronald Chad Brown and Robert Craig Brown of Plant City, Fl., Robert J. Ginn II, Robbie Ginn and Jamie Ginn, 9 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mr. McGiboney will be held on Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at 10:00 AM in the chapel of Wheeler Funeral Home with Rev. Sean Nix officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Stockbridge. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
