Martha “June” Hammond, 74, of Oxford, passed away Thursday, November 17, 2016. She was born in Porterdale on February 16, 1942, to the late Lonnie and Marie Guthrie.

Hammond loved being outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. She loved to cook, especially baking and cake decorating, and was most happy when people were enjoying the food she prepared. Hammond was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, and will be missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her siblings, J. L. Guthrie, Charles Guthrie and Billie Kay Rawlins.

Hammonds is survived by her children, Marie Hodges, Sherry and Curtis Jackson, Michelle and Will Pettit, Scot and Michelle Hodges; grandchildren, Mistie Hodges, Jeremiah Chavez, Brandy Hales, Andrew Pettit, Brandon Pettit, Caroline Hodges; great grandchildren, Caleb Hodges, Mary Chavez, Abigail Chavez, Annah Jackson, Willow Griffin, Drew Pettit, Leighton Pettit; siblings, Rudolph Guthrie, Delores Heyliger, Janelle Gibbs; best friend since second grade, Delores “Cookie” Vincent; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for. Hammond will be held Monday, November 21, 2016, 3 p.m., at Macedonia Baptist Church with Reverend Larry Cheek officiating and interment following in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 20, 2016, from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. at J. C. Harwell & Son Funeral Home.
