Marjorie Day Stokes, 92, of Stockbridge passed away August 3, 2016, at Piedmont Henry Medical Center in Stockbridge.

Stokes was born in Maxeys to the late Joseph and Lillie (Escoe) Day. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years, Joseph I. Stokes in 1989. Marjorie was a member of the “The Lowettes” (the ladies version of the Legion of Honor) of the Yarab Shrine Temple of Atlanta. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. Marjorie was a very modest woman and very independent. She was the last of her 10 siblings.

Marjorie is survived by her daughter Linda Sasser of Oxford; grandsons and spouses Jim and Sonia Sasser of Oxford and Mike and Susan Sasser of Nashville; five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 6, 2016 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Wheeler Funeral Home with Rev. Tanner Cline officiating. Entombment will follow at Crestlawn Memorial Park in Atlanta. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, August 5, 2016 from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Guests may sign the online register at wheelerfuneralhome.com.
