Ms. Marie Jones was born on Jan. 27, 1923, to the late Mr. Eddie Lovejoy and Ms. Bessie Sweet Jones in Newton County.
Marie was a devoted member of the Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church in Mansfield, where she served on the Stewardess Board and Pastor’s Aid Board. She served diligently for many years, especially involved in the choir activities and praises her choir director and pianist, Ms. Kay F. Porter, along with her Lord, until the day she passed. God has blessed many with his Angels, Marie and Siblings.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Bessie Sweet Jones; brothers Henry Jones, Wilson Jones, Charlie Jones and sisters, Carlie Jones Belcher and Carie Lee Jones
She leaves a legacy with her daughter Louise Jones; grandson, Lydell Jones; great-grandson, Lydrail Jones; great-great-granddaughters, Dallas Jones and Khloe Jones; devoted nieces, Marion Driskell and Michelle Jones and a host of other relatives and friends.
The funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2018 with the Rev. Noah Nyamaropa and the Rev. W.H. Gaither at Mt. Zion AME Church, at 119 5th Ave., in Mansfield. Interment followed at Poplar Hill Church Cemetery and the repast was held int eh church fellowship hall.
