Madeleine Black, of Covington, died Oct. 10, at the age of 80. She was a member of East Newton Baptist Church and enjoyed reading her Bible. She loved the outdoors and her dog, Susie. Mrs. Black had been a volunteer at Newton Medical Center for several years. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Corrina Efired Morgan and a daughter, Susan Black.

Surviving are daughters and son-in-law, Blenda Bland of Maryland and Ann and Steve Mabe of Covington; son and daughter-in-law, Neal and Dottie Black of Banks, Ala.; grandchildren, Christopher, Nicolas, Joshua, Nathan, Dusty and Sarah; one great-grandson, Noah Anderson; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bink and Helen Morgan of San Antonio, TX., Heath and Daisy Morgan of Albemarle, NC.; special niece, Myra Ballard of Covington.

Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. on Oct. 15 at the chapel of Caldwell & Cowan with the Rev. William L. Herndon officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-3 p.m. on Oct. 15. Flowers are acceptable or donations may be made to your favorite charity.
