Luther “Junebug” McCart, of Porterdale, passed away August 16, 2013, at the age of 67. He and his wife owned and operated McCart Shell for 17 years. Junebug was a great story teller and practical joker. He was a very generous person and was loved by all of Newton County. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Okanus McCart.
Survivors include his loving wife of 49 years, Pat McCart; children and their spouses, Torri McCart, Tim and Sherie McCart, Todd and Melinda McCart; mother, Agneeze McCart; sister and brother-in-law, Lynn and Charlie Henderson; brothers and sister-in-law, Ronnie McCart, James and Megan McCart; 8 grandchildren, Laura McCart, Ashley Cox, Okie McCart, Ben McCart, Alyssa McCart, Cameron Snyder, Samira Snyder, Jasmyne Snyder; great-grandchildren, Jensen Cox, Memphis Cox; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Junebug will be held Monday, August 19, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, Covington, with Pastor Robert Raynor, and his grandson-in-law, Pastor Josh Cox, officiating, and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Sunday, August 18, from 6-9 p.m.
