Luke Silvio, 93, currently of Covington, formerly of Grayson, passed away on Dec. 2. Mr. Silvio lived with his wife of 70 years, Dorothy Roberts Silvio, at Benton House in Covington. Mr. Silvio was a welder by trade and had his own welding business, first in Tucker and then in Grayson. He had a love of horses and transported horses throughout the country for individuals. He loved the Atlanta Braves, Dallas Cowboys and LSU Tigers. Mr. Silvio was the son of the late Antonio Silvio and Josephine Ciacco Silvio. He was preceded in death by six sisters and one brother. Mr. Silvio frequently gave young people a chance working for him in his welding shop and with his horses.  

He is survived by his wife Dorothy Roberts Silvio; his son and daughter-in-law Jerry and Kathy Silvio of Covington; granddaughters Sara Silvio of Decatur, Dinah Silvio of Raleigh, N.C., Ashley Sanders and  husband, Trey, of Covington; and sister Rose Viles of Arlington, Texas;.several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

A memorial service for Mr. Silvio will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 29, at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road in Covington. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Dec. 29, from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Luke Silvio to the Newton County Juvenile Court to support programs, including the advocate program at Newton County Juvenile Court, 1132 Usher St., Suite 119, Covington, GA  30014.
