Linda Baker Moore, 66, of Covington, passed away June 24. She was born in 1945 at her family's home place in north Rockdale County. At 11, she became a follower of Jesus Christ and never wavered on that foundation. As a school girl, she distinguished herself as a scholar and was Star Student her senior year at LaGrange High School. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Valdosta State College with a B.A. in English. For years, she served her community as a devoted pastor's wife, mother, and teacher. She lived well. She loved lavishly. She filled our world with music and grace. For all who despair that in this life there is no such thing as truth, no soul that is brave, no path to forgiveness, look at the life of Linda Baker Moore and take heart. Such beauty does exist. Ponder the person that she was and find God's grace, the light of his love and the strength to choose joy.
She was preceded in death by her parents Grady and Juliatte (Haralson) Baker, niece, Linda Christine Lester, daughter of Hazel and Henry Lester and niece, Marsha Evelyn Walraven, daughter of Frances and Howard Walraven.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law Michelle and Jim Thorne of Covington; sisters and brother-in-law Frances Walraven of Conyers, Hazel and Henry Lester of Covington; brother and sister-in-law Lewis and Frances Baker of Decatur; grandchildren Jostan Thorne, Jacey Thorne, Jasmine Thorne, Jamie Thorne; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 1, at Canaan Baptist Church, Covington, with Dr. Scott Caudill and the Rev. Virgil Barnard officiating, and interment following in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Conyers. The family will receive friends at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, Covington, from 7 to 9 p.m. today, June 29, and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, June 30. Flowers are accepted, or those desiring to do so may make contributions in memory of Ms. Linda, to Canaan Baptist Church - Missions Fund, 5581 Salem Road, Covington, GA 30016.
