Leon Parish, 78, of Covington, died November 11 at Newton Medical Center. The son of the late Otis A., Sr. and Exie Cunard Parish, he was an avid CB radio operator, enjoyed playing golf and was the co-founder of the Newton County Saddle Club. Mr. Parish loved life and lived it to the fullest. He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to many.

Surviving are wife Rita Parish of Covington; sons and daughter-in-law Tommy Parish of Birmingham, Ala., Douglas and Bobbie Parish of Danielsville; daughters and sons-in-law Barbara and Herb Ruecksties of Oxford, Belinda and Don Colborn of Heiskell, Tenn., Ragen and Bob Cantrell of Covington; grandchildren Shane Parish, Leigh Arnold, Brandy Adams, Misty Burton, Mindy Greene, Tamara Utes-Fouser, Tori Cantrell; great-grandchildren Brittany Hammond, Kayla Hammond, Austin Colborn, Abigail Adams; sister-in-law Hazel Parish of Covington; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. Parish will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, in the Access Road chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home with Rev. William Herndon and Pastor John Dallas officiating. Interment will follow in Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Caldwell & Cowan today, Nov. 12, from 6-9 PM.
