Leigh Jay, of Covington, passed away Feb. 10, 2018, at 82 years of age. A strong Christian woman and a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Covington, where she had attended since she was two years old, Leigh sang in the choir, as well as working in the church nursery for 41 years.  She graduated from Georgia State College for Women, and retired from Southern Bell, after 30 years of service.  Bingo, bowling, and traveling were among her favorite pastimes.  She will be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.  Leigh was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Lucille Skinner; and niece, Ricki Lynn.

Survivors include her devoted husband of 61 years, Thomas Jay; sons and daughters-in-law, Scott and Leesha Jay, Mike and Samantha Jay; grandchildren, Brent Jay, Justin Jay, Jamie LaMarque, Jessica Jay, Mackenzie Jay, Emma Jay, Caleb Jay; great-grandchildren, Kelby, Finn, Millie, Charlie; brother and sister-in-law, Billy and Shirley Skinner; as well as nieces, Kathy Wooley and Hope Ricks.

A Funeral Service for Leigh will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13 at First Baptist Church, 1139 Usher St., in Covington, with Dr. Cody McNutt and the Rev. Len Strozier officiating.  Interment will follow in Lawnwood Memorial Park.  Friends may visit with the family Monday, Feb. 12, from 5 – 7 p.m., at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, Covington.
