Katherine Henderson, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, parted from this life into life everlasting Dec. 24. She was born in the Georgetown Community of Newton County. She attended West Georgia College in Carrollton but left to marry her childhood sweetheart Carmen Henderson. She later received a Bachelor of Science in Education from Oglethorpe University and taught in the Cobb County School System for over 20 years. She loved God’s word, her family, music and gardening. She is preceded in death by her loving husband Carmen and her son Phillip.

She is survived by her sister Marion Tanner of Mount Dora, Fla.; daughters Peggy Hughes of Wetumpka, Ala., Nancy Shaver of Atlanta; and her precious grandchildren Jay Hughes, Burke Hughes, Kim Harrison and Amanda Gastineau and their families. Her family would like to express their gratitude for the loving kindness of the staff of Angels for the Elderly, Montgomery, Ala., where Mrs. Henderson was a resident for 6 years. She loved providing medleys of hymns, patriotic tunes and sentimental favorites on the piano before meals and for special programs.

Graveside services were held Dec. 26 at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery, Oxford. Online condolences may be placed at www.caldwellandcowan.com.
