Katherine Engleert Holahan, 89, of North Pointe Assisted Living died Jan. 20 at AnMed health Medical Center. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., in 1919, she was the daughter of the late Andrew John Englert and Helen C. Englert. Mrs. Holahan was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she was a member of the Hilltoppers and the Women's Club. She was a homemaker and for many years a volunteer for Meals on Wheels.
Surviving are husband Joseph Myles Holahan Jr. of Anderson, S.C., children Christine Turner of Charleston, C.C., Cathleen LaFave and husband Jim of Hickory, N.C., Donald Francis Holahan and wife Joanne of Geneva, Ohio, Leo Andrew Holahan and wife Julie of Covington, Thomas A. Holahan and wife Kimberly of Anderson; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by parents, her son Joseph M. Holahan III and brothers Andrew Englert and Harold Englert. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Anderson, with Father Hayden Vaverek officiating. Interment will follow in New Silver Brook Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home Today, Jan. 23, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. A prayer service will follow. The family suggests memorials be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1303 McLees Road, Anderson, S.C. 29621, or to Meals on Wheels, P.O. Box 285, Anderson, S.C. 29622.
