Karen Stone Long passed away unexpectedly, at the age of 75, on Nov. 8, 2017, in Covington. She was surrounded by loving family and close friends when she left this earth to be with her mother.

Karen was born on June 8, 1942, to Ruth Steele Stone and Louis Edward Stone, in Covington. Although she lived in many places, she always called Covington home and moved back to help her mother and Aunt Louise with their dress shop, The R & L Shop. Her passion for helping people continued after the closing of R & L’s by volunteering at the hospital and with hospice care.

Karen was a force of love and kindness to all around her. Her quick wit, loud laugh, and bold personality will be remembered and missed greatly by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Ed Stone and her mother, Ruth Stone.

She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Phil and Ivy Stone; son and daughter-in-law, Trey and Jennifer Long; and her daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Chip Harrison. Karen’s grandchildren are Ada Harrison, Tommy Long, Wesley Long, and Emily Harrison.

A Funeral Service for Mrs. Long will be held Sunday, Nov. 12, 2017, 2 p.m., at First United Methodist Church, 1113 Conyers St., in Covington, with Rev. Dr. Douglas Gilreath and Doug Doster officiating. Interment will follow in High Point Baptist Cemetery, Covington.
