Joyce Sanders, of Oxford, died Thursday, Aug. 19, at her residence. She was born on Sept. 18, 1938, in Porterdale to Horace E. and Margie Mitchum Johnson. She was a life-long resident of Newton County.

Mrs. Sanders is survived by daughters and sons in law Cathy and Gary Hughes of Conyers, daughter Judy Cooper of Oxford, Johnnie Sanders of Oxford, Rita and Michael Parker of Covington; son Bo Sanders of Monticello; sisters Sheila Garner and Karen Lundy of Oxford; brothers Eddie Johnson of Ohio, Terry Johnson of Tenn., and Monty Johnson of Jasper County; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 28, in the chapel of Wheeler Funeral Home with Rev. Greg Miller officiating. Guests may sign the online register book at www.wheelerfuneralhome.com.
