Joseph Sidney Garner went to be with his Heavenly Father and Jesus, his Savior and Lord, Feb. 19. The son of the late Joseph Maxwell Garner and Catherine Good Garner of Oxford, Miss., he was born in 1925. Mr. Garner served in the church as an elder for many years and served his country in the U.S. Air Force as a pilot and in Research and Development, participating in World War II, Korean Conflict, and Vietnam.
Surviving are his wife of 63 years Mary McCord Garner; daughter Linda Carol Garner, Covington; sons Joe, Stockbridge, Robert, Snellville, Donald, Arcata, Calif., and Brooks, Foley, Ala.; 13 grandchildren, four great grandchildren and one sister Maxine Garner Elliott, Pearl, Miss.
A memorial celebration will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Covington. It will be followed by fellowship and refreshments. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Missions Ministry, Trinity Presbyterian Church
