Joseph Sanford "Sandy" McDonald, age 57, of Covington passed away Dec. 13, 2017. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Williams McDonald of Covington; his father, Rev. J. Sanford McDonald, of Covington; two brothers-in-law, Cal Jones and Don Henderson; two nieces, Kristin Henderson and Sara Jones; and a great niece, Kammille Tuff. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is pre-deceased by his mother, Sara DeFreese McDonald and two sisters, Brenda McDonald Jones and Donna McDonald Henderson. He earned an Associate’s Degree in music from the Art Institute of Atlanta and worked as a supervisor in corporate contract security. Sadly, Sandy was diagnosed with Myotonic Muscular Dystrophy and became homebound. His loving wife of 22 years was his sole caregiver for the last two years. He was a faithful member of the Covington First United Methodist Church and was always grateful for the many ways the church embraced him and loved him.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 16, 2017 at the Covington First United Methodist Church with The Reverend Doctor Douglas Gilreath and Reverend Jan McCoy officiating. The family will receive friends at J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home on Friday, Dec. 15, 2017 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. J.C.
