Mr. Joseph Hall Jefferson, 77, of Covington died yesterday, March 16. He was born June 21, 1935 and raised in Fort Worth, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents Harold William and Annis Lee (Twyman) Jefferson; and his beloved brother Robert Moseley Jefferson.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Susie Rainey Jefferson of Covington; son William Nixon Rainey Jefferson of Atlanta; daughter Clara Jefferson Hoban of Covington; grandson Patrick Jefferson Hoban also of Covington; sister-in-law Anne Kirby Jefferson of Albuquerque, N.M.; niece Kim Jefferson Tomasi also of Albuquerque, N.M.; nephews Kirby Jefferson of Dalian, China and Russ Jefferson of Dublin, Ohio.

Mr. Jefferson was a graduate of Pascal High School, Fort Worth, Texas, North Texas State University, Denton, Texas, and he earned a master’s degree from Georgia State University. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Jefferson worked for Williamson-Dickie, McGregor Brunswick, Mobil Chemical, and he retired from Pennington Seed of Madison. He owned the Credit Bureaus of Covington, Conyers and McDonough and was director of the Associated Credit Bureaus of Georgia.

Memorial services for Mr. Jefferson will be held 3 p.m., tomorrow, March 18, at the First United Methodist Church of Covington, with Rev. Dr. Douglas Gilreath and Rev. Jan McCoy officiating. The family will receive friends at Caldwell and Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, today, March 17, from 3 to 5 p.m. No flowers, please.
