Mrs. Johnnie Marlowe Piper of Covington, died July 19, 2009, at the age of 102. Mrs. Piper was a member of Covington First United Methodist Church, and former member of the Covington Women’s Club. She enjoyed gardening, and flowers; but more than anything she loved her family and her church. Mrs. Piper was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Lester Piper; grandson, Allen Clark; and her parents, Joseph Franklin and Carrie Lee Simmons Marlowe. Survivors include her daughters, Gloria Thompson of Eatonton, Mariana and Sam Pace of Covington, Sandra and Tommy Clark of Newnan; 6 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Geraldine Wells of Christian City, GA, Bonnie Buchanan of Peachtree City; brother, Hollis Marlowe of Reno, NV; several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Mrs. Piper will be held Wednesday, July 22, 2009, 11:30 AM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Rd., with Rev. Douglas Gilreath officiating and interment following in Covington City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Wednesday, prior to the service, from 10:30-11:30 AM. Flowers are accepted, or donations may be made to Covington First United Methodist Church, 1113 Conyers St., Covington, GA 30014.
