Mr. John Raymond Middleton, 62, of Winston-Salem passed away Monday, February 16, 2015 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. He was born November 15, 1952 in Fairfax County, Virginia to George and Jimmie Weisner Middleton. John received his undergraduate degree from VCU and his Master’s Degree from Wake Forest University. Formerly from Davidson County, he moved to Georgia where he worked with Service Master Corporation for 22 years. He then worked for Newton County from March 2000 as the Finance Director until his retirement in September 2014 as the County Manager. While working for Newton County, John touched many lives and will be greatly missed by those who knew him. John returned back to Winston-Salem after his retirement. He was preceded in death by his son, Tres Middleton in 1993 and by his sister, Ann Middleton Peters.

Surviving are his loving wife, Carol West Middleton; his mother, Norma Middleton; a brother in law, Robert Peters; a niece, Elizabeth Middleton Myrick; his mother and father in law, Roy and Nancy West and cousin Marcey Reed and her husband Richard.

A memorial service for Mr. Middleton will be held on Saturday March 7, 2015 at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Wheeler Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 12-1 pm.
