John Blake McLeod, Jr. of Rutledge passed away Thursday, October 9, 2014 at the age of 70, after he fought a long battle with cancer. He was born August 31, 1944 to the late John Blake, Sr. and Sara McLeod. Mr. McLeod was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved to fish and hunt; raised beagles for hunting; was a member of the Big Pines Hunting Club; member and President of the Goldin’s Hunting Club; President of the IBEW 613 Retirees; and loved football. Mr. McLeod was very meticulous with the care of his muscadine vineyard and an avid gardener. He loved his family unconditionally. In addition to his parents, Mr. McLeod was predeceased by his father-in-law William Thomas Rosser, Sr.

He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Sandra Rosser McLeod of Rutledge; children Deborah Lynn Harden, Sharron Lee Mormon, John Blake McLeod, III, and Brandon Blake (Christa) McLeod; grandchildren Bobbie Lee, Cassandra, John, Brittany, and Blake; several great-grandchildren; brothers Jerome McLeod, Charles “Brewster” McLeod, Mark (Elisa) McLeod; sisters Carroll (Mike) Burns, Lacy McLeod; mother-in-law Ellene Rosser and many other family members.

A funeral service will be held Monday, Oct. 13, 2014 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Wheeler Funeral Home with Pastor Charles “Brewster” McLeod, Pastor Paul Leslie, and Pastor Dan Garrett officiating. Interment will follow immediately after the service at Fairview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, Oct. 12, 2014 from 5 p.m.– 8 p.m. Guests may offer online condolences at wheelerfuneralhome.com.
