Mr. John Henry Hitchcock, 71, of Hiawasse, passed away Oct. 30, following a sudden illness. He was preceded in death by a sister, Carol Webb. He was the son of the late Roy and Evelyn (Adams) Hitchcock and was born in 1942, in Covington. He was a member of Towns County Lions Club, Helen Presbyterian Church and treasurer of the ACS. He was very active in the Northeast Georgia Presbytery and also a member of the Porterdale Presbyterian Church in Newton County.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda (Cook) Hitchcock, of Hiawassee; sister, Kathy Jones, of Tennessee; sister-in-law Norma Ivey, of Young Harris; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today, Nov. 1 in the chapel of Banister Funeral Home, Hiawassee, with the Rev. Blant Ferguson and the Rev. Roe Callaway officiating. Services will also be held in Covington at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, at the chapel of Wheeler Funeral Home, with the Rev. Scott Sims and the Rev. Joan Stevens officiating. Interment will be in Lawnwood Memorial Park in Covington.
