Joan Kite, 70, of Oxford, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2018. Mrs. Kite loved music - especially gospel - and she enjoyed singing in church in her younger years. She was also a fan of Elvis and his music. Mrs. Kite’s friends and family knew her as a caring person who always put others first. She enjoyed spending time with loved ones and cooking delicious meals for them. Mrs. Kite’s favorite time of the year was Christmas – she loved decorating and entertaining for the holiday season. Additionally, she liked to put together puzzles and do word searches. Mrs. Kite was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin Curtis and Sara Ella Mae Floyd; and brothers, Charles Floyd, Larry Floyd, all of Summerville, Georgia.
Survivors include her devoted husband of 45 years, Dale Kite; sons and daughters-in-law, James and Laura Brewer of Covington, Joel and Kim Brewer of Porterdale, Marvin Kite of Hoschton, Mark Kite of Gainesville; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Ron Bellamy of Covington; brother, Steven Floyd of Porterdale; as well as two nieces.
A Funeral Service for Mrs. Kite will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Pastor Don Reed officiating and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park, Covington. Friends may visit with her family at the funeral home, Friday, Aug. 17, from 5 to 7 p.m.
