Mrs. Jewell Spears Touchstone, of Covington, died Oct. 7 at her residence.
The daughter of the late Joshua Baker Spears and Loy Smith Spears, she was born in 1913 in Farrar. She was preceded in death by husband James Flemington Touchstone. Mrs. Touchstone was a former school teacher and was retired as a bookkeeper from Thrift Oil Company where she worked with her husband before his death. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Covington, the Covington Garden Club and the DAR and was a graduate of Georgia State College for Women.
Surviving are sister Barbara Joyner of Jacksonville, Fla.; sisters-in-law Mrs. Ralph Spears of Covington, Mrs. Rufus Spears of Atlanta; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today, Oct. 10, in the chapel of Harwell-Wheeler Funeral Home with the Rev. Julie Schendel officiating. Interment will be at 2 p.m. in Old Oak Hill Cemetery, Griffin. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist church of Covington, 1113 Conyers St., S.E., Covington, Ga. 30014, or Abbey Hospice, 215 Azalea Court, Social Circle, Ga., 30018.
